FAQ

The questions I hear most: who pays, what's free, and whether it all runs on one device.

Do I need to install anything?
No. It runs entirely in your browser, on a computer, tablet or phone. There's nothing to download.
Do players have to pay too?
No. Your DM plan covers the whole table, and your players join for free.
Does it work without two monitors?
Yes. The Table Display (the map under your minis) is just one feature. The combat tracker, compendium, dice, character sheets and everything else work on a single device anywhere.
Is the content legal?
Yes. The Compendium serves openly licensed fifth-edition content: SRD 5.1 and Level Up: Advanced 5th Edition under CC-BY 4.0, third-party material under the OGL, and the Black Flag Reference Document under the ORC License. Every entry carries its own license, listed on the Licenses page. TableMimic is an independent fan-made tool and is not affiliated with Wizards of the Coast.
Do I need an account?
Not for basic use. An account is for saving to the cloud and syncing between devices.
Does it support both the 2014 and 2024 rules?
The core content is the SRD 5.1 (the 2014 version), which stays compatible with a game run on the 2024 rules, since they share the same core. Alongside it the Compendium carries other openly licensed fifth-edition material. Where things differ, I aim for what you'll actually use at the table.
What devices does it run on?
In any modern browser: ideally a tablet or laptop at the table, but it works on a phone too.
How do I report a bug or send an idea?
Through the feedback button in the app, or write to me at the contact in the footer. It's in beta, and your feedback moves it forward.
