D&D Spell Save DC Calculator

Work out your D&D 5e spell save DC in seconds — free, no login, no setup. The spell save DC is 8 + your proficiency bonus + your spellcasting ability modifier, and this calculator does all three steps for you: enter your spellcasting ability score and character level, and it derives the modifier, looks up the proficiency bonus for your level, and shows the finished DC. It gives you your spell attack bonus at the same time, so one screen covers both numbers your spells need. It works for any class — Intelligence, Wisdom or Charisma casters alike.

FAQ

How do you calculate spell save DC in D&D 5e?
Spell save DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your spellcasting ability modifier. A 5th-level wizard with 18 Intelligence has a proficiency bonus of +3 and an Intelligence modifier of +4, so the spell save DC is 8 + 3 + 4 = 15.
What is my spell attack bonus?
Your spell attack bonus is your proficiency bonus + your spellcasting ability modifier — the same two numbers as the save DC, just without the 8. You add it to the d20 when a spell calls for an attack roll instead of a saving throw.
Which ability is my spellcasting ability?
It depends on your class. Wizards and artificers use Intelligence; clerics, druids and rangers use Wisdom; bards, paladins, sorcerers and warlocks use Charisma. Pick the matching ability score and the calculator handles the rest.
